  • SPIRITUALITY – Does Spirituality Require Religion?

Here’s a simple way to look at it: think of spirituality as the vast ocean, while religion is just one of the many boats you can use to navigate those waters. You might also choose to swim, float, or simply sit on the shore and soak in the rhythm of the waves.

Spirituality doesn’t hinge on religion. It’s all about connection, awareness, and finding meaning—things that can unfold in nature, through art, during meditation, or even in the little moments of daily life. Religion can offer guidance, a sense of community, and a framework that helps some people explore the depths of their inner selves. But it’s certainly not the only way to dive into the richness of existence.

Ultimately, spirituality is a personal journey. It’s less about following strict rules or rituals and more about how deeply you engage with the world, how much you reflect, and how open you are to the mysteries that life presents. You can discover it in a church, a temple, a peaceful morning stroll, or a quiet moment by the sea. The choice is yours, and every path you take has its own unique beauty.

  • Becoming Who I Was Always Meant to Be

Transformation is not always loud or dramatic. More often, it happens quietly—through the lessons we learn, the challenges we overcome, and the parts of ourselves we choose to leave behind. Letting go of who I once was has allowed me to discover someone stronger, wiser, and more authentic.

I feel like I’m becoming more confident and self-assured, not because of anything anyone else has done, but because I’ve found what I needed within myself. The validation I once searched for from others has been replaced by self-belief. I’ve learned that confidence grows when you trust your own voice, honor your own journey, and recognize your own worth.

I also feel myself becoming stronger. Life’s difficult moments have shaped me rather than broken me. Every setback has taught me resilience, every challenge has strengthened my character, and every obstacle has reminded me that growth often comes through discomfort. Instead of fearing hardships, I now see them as opportunities to become more resilient and capable.

Most importantly, I believe I am becoming more of the person I was always meant to be. As I let go of fear, self-doubt, and old versions of myself that no longer serve me, I create space for authenticity, purpose, and peace. I’m learning to embrace who I truly am rather than who I thought I needed to be.

Transformation is not about becoming someone entirely new—it’s about uncovering the person who has always existed beneath the fear, expectations, and uncertainty. Every step forward is a reminder that growth is a continuous journey, and every version of ourselves has served a purpose in leading us to where we are today.

I am still growing. I am still learning. But with every season of change, I move closer to becoming the person I was always meant to be—and that, in itself, is the greatest transformation of all.

  • Authenticity: The Power of Self-Trust

Life has a funny way of putting us to the test. And when it did, the inner strength that kept me moving forward wasn’t just confidence or certainty—it was self-trust.

There were times when I had no clue how things would turn out, when the road ahead felt strange and the ground beneath me seemed to shift. What kept me going wasn’t the absence of fear, but a quiet belief that I would find my way—and that God would always be by my side.

Even if I stumbled, I made a promise to myself: I wouldn’t abandon myself. I learned to tune in to my own feelings instead of looking outward for permission or reassurance.

That strength showed up as resilience, sure—but also as compassion. I allowed myself to take things slow. I let grief and hope exist side by side. I kept choosing the next right step instead of demanding to see the whole journey.

Self-trust meant believing I could adapt, learn, and grow—even when everything seemed to fall apart. It meant listening to my intuition when logic ran dry. It meant staying open, not hardening myself against what I’d been through.

Life tested me, and what I found was this:
I don’t need to be fearless to move forward.
I just need to trust that God will guide me through whatever comes next.

  • What Self-Care Truly Looks Like

For a long time, I thought self-care was something I would get around to when life became less busy. I often put my own needs on the back burner, convincing myself there were more important things to focus on.

Then life reminded me how important it is to slow down.

A difficult season, including experiencing a house fire and being displaced, completely shifted my perspective. While I would never wish for such a challenging experience, it taught me something invaluable: taking care of myself isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.

Today, self-care looks like listening to what my body and my heart are trying to tell me. It means slowing down, paying attention to my needs, and trusting my intuition instead of constantly pushing through exhaustion.

This week, I’m choosing to care for myself in simple but meaningful ways:

    • 💪🏼 Moving my body by going to the gym regularly, not to chase perfection, but to feel stronger and healthier.
    • 👗 Allowing myself a little retail therapy, embracing the joy that comes from treating myself without guilt.
    • 🌞 Taking time to relax by the pool, giving myself permission to rest, recharge, and simply enjoy the present moment.

These may seem like small acts, but they’re things I rarely made time for before. Now I understand that caring for myself allows me to show up better in every other area of my life.

Healing isn’t always about fixing what’s broken. Sometimes it’s about creating space to breathe, to recover, and to reconnect with yourself.

Even in the hardest seasons, there can be unexpected blessings. Sometimes the greatest growth comes from the moments that force us to slow down and rediscover what truly matters.

There really is a silver lining in every storm—we just have to be willing to look for it.

How will you practice self-care this week?

  • Resilience: Releasing Recurring Negative Thoughts

Recurring negative thoughts can really sap your energy, more than you might realize. They can weigh you down, cloud your judgment, and make it tough to move forward.

In my book, Finding Your Truest You, I dedicate a whole chapter to “Unlearning Negative Mindsets,” which I affectionately refer to as stinkin’ thinkin’.

The secret to letting go of these thoughts is pretty straightforward in theory, but it does take some practice:

✨Reframe your thoughts—try to see things from a different angle.

✨Tune out the noise that doesn’t help you.

✨Make it a point to focus on something positive every single day.

By sticking to this routine, you carve out space for peace and clarity. You stop battling the same thoughts in your head and start directing your energy toward what really matters.

Letting go of those pesky negative thoughts isn’t just a mental cleanup—it’s a bold act of self-care that revitalizes both your energy and your focus.

  • Finding the Silver Linings

Life has a way of changing us in ways we never expect. Often, it’s not the joyful moments that shape us the most—it’s the painful ones. The seasons we never asked for become the ones that teach us the greatest lessons.

If not for a traumatic, life-altering event, I may never have truly found myself.

If not for shattered dreams of what I thought life was supposed to be, I may never have learned to dream even bigger.

If not for reaching a fork in the road, I may never have discovered that another path—one I had never imagined—was waiting for me.

If not for tragedy, I may never have learned how resilient I could be or how much fear I was capable of overcoming.

If not for rejection, I may never have developed the confidence to believe in myself instead of relying on the approval of others.

If not for recent hardships, I may never have realized the importance of slowing down, taking care of myself, and appreciating the present moment.

Looking back, I can see that every challenge carried a lesson. Every setback revealed a new strength. Every closed door redirected me toward something better. While I would never choose the pain, I can appreciate the growth that came because of it.

Growth rarely arrives wrapped in comfort. More often, it comes disguised as disappointment, loss, uncertainty, or change. It asks us to trust that something meaningful can emerge from what feels broken.

That doesn’t mean we have to be grateful for the hardship itself. It simply means we can choose to find purpose within it.

So if you’re walking through a difficult season right now, ask yourself this:

What is this experience teaching me?

You may not see the answer today, but one day you’ll look back and realize that what felt like an ending was actually the beginning of becoming the person you were always meant to be.

I callenge you to look for the silver linings. They may be small at first, but they have the power to change the way you see your story—and yourself.
